A man from Philadelphia is facing multiple charges including attempted murder after a dispute with a woman he was involved with in Windsor turned violent.

Windsor police say the incident happened on the night of Dec. 23, around 10:30 p.m., in the area of Riverside Drive West and Ferry Street.

Officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle and found the injured 21-year-old female victim. She was taken to hospital for treatment. Police say her injuries are not life-threatening.

The driver fled the scene before police arrived. Investigation determined that the woman was in an intimate relationship with a 23-year-old man from Philadelphia. They had argued earlier in the day. She alleged that he assaulted her and kept her against her will.

Police further allege that the man intentionally hit the woman with his vehicle.

The suspect was later located at a Windsor hospital. Police arrested him andcharged him with attempted murder, assault, assault by choking, forcible confinement, and failure to remain at the scene of a collision.

The Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate the case.
