Windsor International Film Festival announces 2017 lineup

The Windsor International Film Festival has been extended to seven days and will feature 151 screenings of documentaries, Canadian features and short films.

The 2017 edition of the Windsor International Film Festival will feature virtual reality experiences, filmmaker challenges and more than 100 movies made inWindsor-Essexand around the world.

This year's event has been extended to seven days and will run from October 30to November 5.

It will feature 113 films from 20 different countries 25 per cent of the films are francophone.

There will be 151 screenings, including Canadian features, documentaries and short films.

Virtual reality and a 48-hour challenge

Eighteenof the films will be pre-release titles, meaning they'll be screened at the festival before their scheduled release dates.

"We are delighted to showcase these films, not only as Windsor premiers, but ahead of their national theatrical release," stated WIFF executive director Vincent Georgie in a media release.

The festival will also include eight virtual reality experiences and FlickFest a 48-hour challenge that will push filmmakers to shoot andcut a short film in just two days.
