Windsor police launch safe driving blitz for Thanksgiving weekend

Windsor police are reminding drivers to stay safe coming home from Thanksgiving dinners, launching a safe driving blitz this weekend.

Windsor police are reminding drivers to stay safe coming home from Thanksgiving dinner, launching a safe driving blitz this weekend.

Operation Impact is a national initiative and will run Friday through midnight on Monday.

Windsor police will continue the strict enforcement until the end of October.

Police officers will be out paying specific attention for:

  • Drinking and driving
  • Drivers not using a seatbelt
  • Speeding or aggressive driving
  • Distracted driving

"We wish for everyone to have a safe and happy holiday weekend, spent with family and loved ones," Sgt. Matthew D'Asti said in a statement. "If you drink, don't drive."
