Windsor Pride names new executive director

The Lambton College graduate is described as smart, motivated and connected. She begins her new role on April 12.

Chair describes candidate as 'smart' and 'successful'

Crystal Fachhas been selected as the new executive director of the Windsor Pride Community, Education and Resource Centre.

The LambtonCollege graduate and founder of theschool's Gay-Straight Alliance will begin her new role on April 12.

"I believe education is the key to success," saidFach, whose background isin social services. "I want to help people take the next step toward creating safe spaces for LGBTQ people in both the education stream and the community at large."

The organization's board of directors described Fach as an exciting choice.

"Crystal is smart, motivated and connected," explained WindsorPridechairGreysonAbela. "She has a very successful personal and professional record of advocacy and community activism on LGBTQ and diversity issues."

Jayce Carver,executive director of W.E. Trans Support, said Fach has been in touch to start conversations about how the two organizations can better work together.

"She seesit as important for us tomaintainourindependenceand continue to move forward in oursocialjusticemovement and wouldliketo support that, so that's encouraging," said Carver.

Carver said communication and partnerships between the two organizations have been going well so far, but that W.E. Trans Support ison the front lines of its own movement.

"A lot of strength had come to the LGBT community through their movement ... and Ithink that the same kind of strength needs to come to the trans community but by us leading the way," Carver said.

Fachseems to understand that initiative, said Carver.

Fachwill taking over the role fromBob Williams, who was recognized by the group for his years of "devoted service."
