Windsor's unemployment rate inched down again, dropping to 5.7 per cent in September, according to Statistics Canada.

That is a drop from 6.1 per cent recorded in August.

In September 2015, the unemployment rate was9.7 per cent. At the time it was the highest in Canada.

Now, Windsor has the eighth lowest unemployment rate in the country.

The continuing drop in the unemployment rate in Windsor is "absolutely remarkable." Mike Moffatt, an economist at Western Univeristywrote in an email to CBC News.

"It's looking more real every month," Moffattsaid, adding there is a caveat to that considering data collection issues that led to chief statistician Wayne Smith's resignation.

Nationally, Canada added 67,000 new jobs in September with most of the increase in part-time work. Canada's national unemployment rate remained unchanged at 7.0 per cent as more people found work, the national statistics agency reports.
