Windsor vape lounges celebrate 4/20

Medical marijuana users celebrated 4/20 at two vape lounges in downtown Windsor.

Higher Learning and VapelatedVaporLounge were both busy spots Wednesday after news broke that the federal governmentplans to introduce a bill in 2017to legalize marijuana.

That announcement was cause for some smokey celebrationsamoung4/20 fans all across the country. CBC News reporter Joana Draghicitalked to Windsorites who were excited about the legalization plan.

April 20thsparks a yearly protest called 4/20 when people advocate for the legalization ofmarijuana.

The designated time for lighting up is 4:20 p.m., but many smoke pot much earlier.

The 4/20 moniker dates back to the pot culture of California in the early1970s.

The 4/20 eventbecame formally attached to April 20 when a group of Vancouver activists held the first day-long rally in 1995.
