Bryan Adams, Russell Peters step in as Junos hosts

Rocker Bryan Adams and comedian Russell Peters will co-host the upcoming Juno Awards, taking over for previously announced host Michael Bubl, who is stepping down to focus on his family. (CARAS)

Rocker Bryan Adams and comedian Russell Peters will co-host next month's Juno Awards, replacing Michael Bubl who continues to care for his three-year-old son, who was diganosed withcancer.

"Third time's a charm! And who better to share the stage with than Bryan Adams?! I'm actually really excited to be back, and looking so forward to making the 2017 Juno Awards a memorable one," Peters said in a statement released early Thursday.

Peters previously hosted theJunosin 2008 in Calgary and 2009 in Vancouver, while Adams is an 18-time Juno winner with multiple best artist, best album and best single trophies.

Bublalso pulled out of hosting duties for the Brit Awards, which were staged last month.

In the days following that announcement he released a statement saying his son Noah was "progressing well" from his treatment and "the doctors are very optimistic about the future for our little boy."

Bublhadbeen chosen as host for the two awards shows last fall, but shortly after revealed the news of the cancer diagnosis and said he'd be putting his career on hold.

"Our thoughts continue to be with Michael we respect his ongoing commitment to his family and look forward to working with him again in the future," addedMike Cosentino, Bell Media's senior vice-president of content and programming.

"We are thrilled that his friends Bryan and Russell have stepped up to host this year's broadcast and have no doubt they will deliver an unforgettable show."

TheJunos, which will be held in Ottawa on April 2, will include performances fromAlessiaCara,Arkells, SarahMcLachlanand Shawn Mendes.
