Producers behind the series had kept the name under wraps for months, calling the film simply Bond 22 in cast announcements and other information releases.

The title hails from one of author Ian Fleming's short stories about James Bond, though the original is an experimentalFleming work centring around the governor of the Bahamas recounting to the spy a tale of love gone wrong.

In the new film, British actor Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the titular MI-6 superspy, with the venerable Judi Dench also returning as agency head M.

French actor Mathieu Amalric, currently winning acclaim for his starring role in the biopic The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, will portray the film's key villain.

Two little-known actresses have also been cast as Bond girls: British newcomer Gemma Arterton as an MI-6 agent named Fields and Ukrainian model-actress Olga Kurylenko as Camille, a sidekick to Craig's Bond.

The new film is believed to follow the conclusion of 2006's Casino Royale. Canadian filmmaker Paul Haggis, who helped pen that script, has also worked with Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster to shape the upcoming edition.

Quantum of Solace, which began filming in London earlier this month, is scheduled to hit North American and British theatres on Nov. 7.
