American director Woody Allen has scored a major casting coup in the form of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, theformer model and current wife of French president Nicolas Sarkozy, who has agreed to appear in his upcoming film.

"He suggested I appear in his next film. I don't know what the role would be, but I said yes," the 41-year-old, Italian-born supermodel turned singer-songwriter told France's Canal+ network this week.

"I go into everything blindly, or I'd never do anything at all," she added. "I'm not at all an actress. Maybe I'll be absolutely terrible."

Allen, who lives in New York but who has recent filmed a host of movies in Europe, visited with Sarkozy and Bruni in Paris in June while promoting his movie Whatever Works.

At the time, when asked who he would like to cast in his next film, Allen quipped, "Without question, Carla Bruni ... She has charisma, and she performs, so she's not a stranger to an audience."

Bruni-Sarkozy said Allen has asked her not to appear in another film before his.

Shehasmade the occasional film or TV appearance, including a cameo as herself in Robert Altman's fashion world satire Prt--Porter. Her mother, concert pianist Marisa Borini, has appeared in films, and her sister, Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi, is an actress and director.

Allen's next movie is tentatively to begin shooting in 2010, and if it moves forward as scheduled, "it'll be a great experience," Bruni-Sarkozysaid.

"I'd like to you know when I'm a grandmother, to have done a Woody Allen film," said Bruni-Sarkozy, who has a son from a previous relationship.

"I cannot in my life miss an opportunity like this."
