Corus brings Oprah network to Canada

The Oprah Winfrey Network will be available in Canada shortly after its Jan. 1 launch in the U.S.

The Oprah Winfrey Network will be available in Canada shortly after its Jan. 1 launch in the U.S.

Corus Entertainment has announced it has a licensing agreement with Winfrey's Harpo Entertainment to add the new network to its portfolio of specialty services.

OWN has already announced shows such as Oprah's Next Chapter, in which the talk show host takes on a primetime program, and The Rosie O'Donnell Show, which will mark O'Donnell's return as a daytime chat show host.

It will also feature Why Not? With Shania Twain, an hour-long series in which the Canadian country star deals with the difficulties in her personal and professional life.

OWN will debutthe start of 2011in approximately 80 million homes on what is currently the Discovery Health Channel.

Corus specialty stations include YTV, Treehouse, Nickelodeon (Canada), W Network, CosmoTV, Sundance Channel (Canada), Movie Central and HBO Canada.
