Eminem, Jimmy Page, Ron Wood to induct Rock Hall of Famers

Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones and Eminem are among the celebrities who will be coming to Cleveland April 4 to induct the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2009.

On Friday, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced some of the celebrity presenterswho will pay tribute to honourees atthis year's sold-out induction ceremony.

Guitar legend Page, a two-time Hall of Fame inductee and a former Yardbird, will induct former bandmate Jeff Beck. Beck will become another two-time inductee. In 1992, he entered the Hall as a Yardbird; this time, he will be honoured for his solo work.

Wood will induct Cleveland-born R&B singer-songwriter Bobby Womack.

Rapper Eminem, who will return from a long hiatus later this year with a pair of albums, titled Relapse and Relapse 2, will welcome rap pioneers Run DMC into the Hall.

Smokey Robinson, whose hits with the Miracles included Tears of a Clown and You Really Got a Hold on Me, will pay tribute to doo-wop group Little Anthony and the Imperials.

Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers will induct heavy-metal band Metallica. Flea's own group will be eligible for induction next year.

Two members of Elvis Presley's band, drummer DJ Fontana and the late bass player Bill Black, will be enshrined in the sidemen category by their counterparts from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, Max Weinberg and Garry Tallent, respectively.

Keyboard player Spooner Oldham will also be inducted as a sideman by David Letterman's bandleader, Paul Shaffer.

A presenter for rockabilly singer Wanda Jackson, who will be inducted in the early-influence category, has not been announced.

Individual artists and groups are eligible to join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after their first album or single is released.

Inducteesare voted inby a selection committee ofroughly 600 musicians, journalists and industry representatives.
