Surrey police said they have issued a caution to a 62-year-old man over a domestic incident in Esher, in southern England, earlier this month, but gave no other details.

"I am greatly relieved that this matter is resolved and look forward to 2010 very positively," Wood said in a statement.

The private life of thelongtime rock guitarist has made headlines of late with the dissolution of his 24-year marriage to Jo Wood, with whom he has two children, amid his relationship with a 21-year-old former cocktail waitress, Ekaterina Ivanova.

Neither police nor Wood's spokesman identified the victim of the assault. However,it waswidely reported that the victim was Ivanova. The relationship has since ended.

Wood's divorce was granted in November and becomes final this month.
