Citizens of the British town of Dartford will soon be strolling Ruby Tuesday Drive and Lady Jane Walk, after city councillors approved a host of street names to honour the Rolling Stones on Thursday evening.

Both frontman Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards grew up in Dartford.

They eventually met up in the town, which is locatedin Kent, and decided to form a group, according to Dartford council spokeswoman Oakley Hartney.

"There's a lot of excitement and support for the Stones in the borough as a whole," she said of the street-naming initiative.

"Everyone is very supportive and this is a way to celebrate."

The street names will be part of a new housing and retail development.

Other suggested Rolling Stonesroad names include:

  • Babylon Close.
  • Satisfaction Street.
  • Black Boulevard.
  • Cloud Close.
  • Sympathy Street.
  • Angie Mews.
  • Rainbow Close.
  • Start Street.
  • Dandelion Row.
  • Stones Avenue.
  • Little Red Walk.

Despite general enthusiasm for the plan, some also questioned the move, saying collectors and fans could target the themed signs could be a target for graffiti or theft as Beatles fans did with the road signs for Abbey Road and Penny Lane in London and Liverpool, respectively.
