Rock star Ronnie Wood has been arrested and released on bail near London, a spokesman for the Rolling Stones guitarist and bassist confirmed on Thursday.

According to spokesman David Rigg, police arrested the 62-year-old in the area of Claygate, southwest of London, on Wednesday after an "incident." He declined further comment.

As per custom, British police did not release Wood's name, with a spokesman stating only that "a 62-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with a domestic incident."

Wood was released on bail, pending further inquiries.

The veteran musician has been in the headlines in his native U.K. of late due to the end of his 24-year marriage. Wood split with his wife, Jo, in 2008 on the grounds of adultery and British tabloids have widely reported his relationship with a 20-year-old waitress. The divorce was granted in November and becomes final later this month.

Also in 2008, he re-entered a rehab centre for help with his ongoing battle with alcoholism.
