Stratford plans more of A Funny Thing

The Stratford Shakespeare Festival is extending the runs of both West Side Story and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum until Nov. 8.

The Stratford Shakespeare Festival is extending the runs of both West Side Story and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum until Nov. 8.

Five performances of West Side Story have been added to the schedule and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum will have three additional performances.

The festival issued a release on Tuesday stating that it had extended the run because of the success of the two productions.

Comedian Sen Cullen recently was announced as the replacement to play the role of Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, after Bruce Dow suffered injuries that forced him to withdraw from the production.

Back in March, the festival put more than 30 fall performances on hold because of poor ticket sales and the impact of the economic recession.

Stratfordhas since enjoyed a turnaround, in part because of federal funding devoted to marketing its shows, and hasreinstated all of those performances.
