Taylor Swift, Alanis Morissette rock You Oughta Know

Taylor Swift lavished praise on Alanis Morissette as the two belted outa rendition of the Canadian rocker's1995 hit You Oughta Know from the Jagged Little Pill album, as part of Swift's 1989 tour.

While introducing her guest performerfor the duet Monday night at the Staples Center,Swift said,"She defined the music of her decade."

"She inspired a generation of confessional female singer-songwriters who all of a sudden felt like you could actually say these raw feelings that you had," Swift said."You could actually sing about your real life, you could put detail to it, you could get really, really mad if you wanted to.

"And I think it's fair to say that so many of the female singer-songwriters of my generation, including myself, would not write the way that we do without her and her music."

After the show, Swift, who switched from countryto pop for her fifth album last year, wrote about the experience on Twitter.

"I don't know how to process how amazing she was. Just absolutely magnificent," she said of Morissette.

In a nod to her country roots, the 25-year-old star alsoteamed up with Natalie Mainesduring the show toperformthe Dixie Chicks' hitGoodbye Earl.
