How to watch the CBC's special coverage of Brian Mulroney's lying-in-state

CBC's special coverage of former prime minister Brian Mulroney's lying-in-state at the Sir John A. Macdonald Building on Wellington Street in Ottawa begins 9a.m. ET on Tuesday, March 19 in Ottawa. Here's how you can follow along:

Chief political correspondent Rosemary Barton is hosting the network's special coverage with CBC News Network's Power & Politics host David Cochrane.

The special starts at 9a.m. ET and ends at 12p.m. ET on Tuesday. After the special ends, you can continue to stream the lying-in-state on CBCNews.ca and the CBCNews app.

Order of events on Tuesday, March. 19:

• The funeral cortege will arrive at the Sir John A. Macdonald Building at 9:30 a.m.
• Family members will be greeted by the Speaker of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Commons.
• The casket, draped with the Canadian flag, will be carried through the main doors on Wellington St. by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police bearer party, who will be followed by the Mulroney family.
• Once inside the ballroom, family members will have a private moment with the casket that will be closed to media.
• A vigil at the casket will feature one Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) member, one RCMP member, two members of the Parliamentary Protective Service, one vigil commander and one sentinel-in-waiting, both from the CAF.
• From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. the family will receive condolences from dignitaries beginning with Gov. Gen. Mary Simonand Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Mulroney will also lie in state in Ottawa on March 20 fromfrom 9a.m. to 1p.m. before being moved to Montreal, where he will lie in repose atSaint Patrick's Basilica, onRen-Lvesque Blvd West, from 2p.m. to 6p.m. on March21, and from 10a.m. to 6p.m. on March22.

The funeral ceremony will beginat 11a.m. on Saturday, March23, 2024at the Notre-Dame Basilica inMontral. It'sexpected to last two hours.
