Ottawa shooting: House of Commons guards to be honoured by MPs

Before heading home for the holidays, MPs will pay tribute to House security guards for their "professionalism" on Oct. 22, when gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau attacked Parliament Hill.

Before heading home for the holidays, MPs will pay tribute to House of Commons security guardsfor their "professionalism" Oct. 22, the day gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau was shot dead just metres from where MPs were holding weekly caucus meetings.

Under the terms of a motion adopted unanimously Tuesday morning, the security team will be invitedinto the Commons chamberafter question period on Thursday.

Commons Speaker Andrew Scheer will speak on behalf ofhis colleagues. According to the motion, the ceremony is expected to last approximately 10 minutes.
