Bruni-Sarkozy nude nets $91,000

A photograph of a nude Carla Bruni-Sarkozy that surfaced during her first state visit as France's first lady has sold for $91,000, about 30 times more than expected,Christie's auction house said.

The picture, taken by photographer Michel Comte in 1993 when Bruni-Sarkozy was a well-known model, was purchased on Thursday by an anonymous bidder on behalf of a collector, the auction house said.

The 13-by-10 inch black-and-white print, whichshows a full bodyshot of Bruni-Sarkozy, was expected tofetch about $3,000 to $4,000.

It was part of a number of photographs auctioned by collector Gert Elfering that also include nude photographs of models Lauren Hutton, Gisele Bundchen and Kate Moss.

Money from the Bruni-Sarkozy photo will go to the Swiss charity Sodis, which provides clean drinking water to developing nations, Christie's said.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy married the former model-turned-singer in February after a brief courtship. He had divorced his second wife in October.
