Russia's Sergey Kislyak: Talks with Trump's ex-security aide 'absolutely transparent'

Sergey Kislyak, who was the Russian ambassador to the U.S. until July, has spoken out about the conversation between now-former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn and Russian officials during 2016.

Russia's former ambassador toWashington, Sergey Kislyak, said on Saturday his conversationswith former White House national security adviser Michael Flynnhad been transparent and focused on matters of U.S.-Russiaco-operation.

Kislyak ended his tenure in Washington in July but remains akey figure in ongoing U.S. investigations into Moscow's allegedmeddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Flynn was forced to resign in February after it became knownthat he had failed to disclose the content of conversations hehad with Kislyak and misled U.S. Vice-President Mike Pence abouttheir meetings.

"We only spoke about the most simple things ... but thecommunication was completely correct, calm, absolutelytransparent. In any case, there were no secrets on our side,"Kislyak said during a panel discussion on Russian television.

"There are a number of issues which are important forco-operation between Russia and the United States most of all,terrorism. And that was one of the things we discussed."
