Manson follower denied parole for 15th time

Charles Manson follower and convicted murderer Leslie Van Houten has been denied parole for the 15th time, prison officials said on Thursday.

Van Houten was denied parole for an additional two years and must undergo another psychological evaluation, said a spokesperson for the California Board of Prison Terms.

She has served 32 years at the California Institution for Women, where she has earned two college degrees.

The 54-year-old was convicted of two murders in the 1969 Tate-LaBianca slayings, along with Manson, Patricia Krenwinkel and Susan Atkins.

Van Houten was 19 when members of Manson's cult-like following went on a two-day killing spree. Wealthy grocer Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary, along with pregnant actress Sharon Tate and four others at her estate were repeatedly stabbed.

Manson and his followers were sentenced to death, but their sentences were commuted.

None of those convicted in the slayings have been granted parole.
