Somalia gunmen kill 2 UN workers

The United Nations mission in Somalia says gunmen inside an airport have shot and killed two consultants working for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

Consultants were working for UN's Office on Drugs and Crime

The United Nations mission in Somalia says gunmen inside an airport have shot and killed two consultants working for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

Nicholas Kay, the UNrepresentative to Somalia, said Monday the two were working in support of Somalia's aspiration for a peaceful and stable future.

The UNdid not immediately release the nationalities of the two slain U.N. consultants. An earlier report that a Canadian was among the victims has not been confirmed.

A UNofficial who spoke on condition of anonymity because the information hadn't yet been made public said the two slain workers were working on a counter-piracy program and were looking at the financial flow of money related to Somalia's pirate attacks.
