Ailing singer Elton John is resting and recuperating at home, says husband David Furnish, ahead of a busy summertouring slate that includes a Diamond Jubilee performance.

"He's doing incredibly well and recovering," Canadian-born theatre producer Furnish told reporters at an event in London on Tuesday night. "Thank you for your well wishes."

Last week, a severe respiratory infection forced the veteran rocker to seektreatment at a Los Angeles hospital, where doctors ordered him to temporarily suspend all performances.

The singer has since been resting at his home inBritain and is "feeling much better," according to a statement posted this week on his website.

"He is looking forward to playing a series of concerts in the U.K. and Europe this summer and, of course, he is very excited about playing atThe Queen's Diamond JubileeConcert at Buckingham Palace on Monday."

The mandated recovery period meant the cancellation of several performances of his Million Dollar Piano show at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. He will resumethe Las Vegas concert seriesin October.

John is expected to make an appearance at a London event Wednesday to mark the 3,000th performance of themusical Billy Elliot, for which he wrote the music, in the West End.

He is slated to begin his summer tour with a concert in Germany on Friday, a concert his publicist said will go ahead as planned.
