U.S. voters will be casting ballots until midnight ET in some states as they select their 45th president as well as members of the House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. Millions of Americans will cast their vote on Tuesday to elect the 45thpresident of the United States, ending along, nasty and sometimes unpredictable election campaign.

At 6 p.m. ET, when the first polls close in states like Indiana and Kentucky, until midnight, when polls close in Alaska, we'll bring you live state-by-state results, tell you what's at stake and explain how the whole U.S. electoral process works.
