Have you had enough of cinematic remakes? Well, have ya? If so, then you should probably stop reading. If not, then you might be intrigued by the first trailer for the upcoming Green Hornet movie.

The much-delayed film stars Seth Rogen as Britt Reid, the hard-partying scion of a media baron. After daddy is mysteriously murdered, Britt sobers up and partners with his father's inscrutable servant, Kato (Jay Chou), to take on L.A.'s criminal underworld.

The film is skedded to be released in January. What to expect based on the trailer: lots of cool and totally implausible weapons; gravity-defying martial arts; detonations galore; and Rogen's usual goofy repartee. The teaser is entertaining enough, but this has the potential to grow very tired after about 45 minutes. The weirdest twist in all this is that it was directed by Michel Gondry, the French auteur behind such tender, fanciful fare as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Science of Sleep. Why on EARTH would he get behind this kind of bombast?
