Samuel L. Jackson voices bedtime book parody

In a case of perfect casting, the internet buzzed on Tuesday afternoon with news that actor Samuel L. Jackson -- king of the curse word -- has recorded an audio book version of the spoof bedtime book sensation Go the F--- to Sleep.

"My agent has twins and he gave me the book and I read it and I fell out laughing. I remember all those times when I did read to my daughter when she was that age. Everybody tells you reading stories will put kids to sleep, but it never works. It didn't in my house," the Pulp Fiction and Snakes on a Plane star, known for his often colourful and varied delivery of a certain four-letter word, says in the introduction to the audio book.

There's even talk of filmmaker and master narrator Werner Herzog recording a version of author Adam Mansbach's hit title, written in the rhyming style of a kid's book, but targeting tired parents at their wits' end as bedtime drags on and on.

(Check out Anna Maria Tremonti's interview with Mansbach on Wednesday's episode of The Current here)

Despite the leaked digital version making the rounds earlier this spring (conveniently going viral around Mother's Day), pre-orders have kept the book high atop Amazon.com's bestseller list for weeks. The hardcover is now officially for sale.

Currently, Jackson's audio book version is available as free download on Audible.com.

Jackson will also appear on Thursday's Late Show with David Letterman to read from the book.
