Good morning, everyone.

We're in the home stretch now. Ah yes, time flies. Last Saturday, Ben Affleck's The Town and the thoughtful teen comedy Easy Ahad their TIFF premieres. I remember them well, through the misty hazeof my sunlight-deprived memory. Now, a mere six days later, both filmsare opening in your local multiplex. (Let's not forget one of theprimary purposes of TIFF is to launch Hollywood's new line of fallproduct each year.) According to my colleagues Martin Morrow and LeeFerguson, they're both superb. So even if you don't live in downtownToronto, you can check them out this weekend and grab a taste of TIFF2010. Just don't expect to see any paparazzi.

There aren'tas many new films premiering and the social whirlwind has pretty muchdied down. (Where have you gone, Mickey Rourke?)

Still,there are repeat screenings of some great films that launched hereduring the past week. It's a great time to check out some of the buzzflicks you might have missed, including some solid Canadian entries.Director Ryan Redford's Oliver Sherman gets another screening today at the AMC. It's one of my favourite Canuck films at TIFF this year. Garret Dillahunt (No Country For Old Men, Deadwood, The Assassination of Jesse James)delivers a chilling performance as an ex-soldier who tracks down theguy who saved his life on the battlefield seven years earlier. DonalLogue and Molly Parker are also wonderful as the couple whose domesticbliss is subsequently shattered. I had the chance to interview director Ryan -- the other Redford at TIFF -- for our web video series earlier this week, and he's one smart dude.

The High Cost of Living screens once again as well; Zach Braffveers away from his nice-guy roles to play a shady character involvedin a hit-and-run with a pregnant woman. Well worth a watch, andMontreal, which plays itself for a change, looks amazing. I also chatted with Braff and director Deborah Chow this week.

The Canuck film A Beginner's Guide to Endingsgets the gala treatment tonight at Roy Thomson Hall. It features HarveyKeitel and the always awesome J.K. Simmons in a comedy about threeadult brothers dealing with their reprobate father. It's set in NiagaraFalls.

And the always interesting Midnight Madness program offers up Stake Land, a flick about vampire hunters. If you're obsessed with HBO's True Blood this could be up your alley. (Expect more gore, however.)
