Back-to-School Morning Routine Punch Cards

By Megan McChesney and Trev Murphy, Kids' CBC Team

Aug 21, 2014

Getting out the door on a weekday morning is a challenge at the best of times. To give kids a bit of independence and to keep them moving through their routine in the morning, we've created these free printable morning routine cards.

You'll need:

  • printable routine cards (below)
  • scissors
  • hole punch
  • laminating machine (optional)

How to Use:

Download our free cards printable and print out as many copies as you need. (To download, right-click the image below and select Save-As.)

Once your cards are printed, fill them in with children's names. Fill in the blanks at the top of the card with the parts of your school-morning routine. We used shorter words ("Bed" means "Make your bed", etc.), but do what feels right for your family. You may even want to use stickers or drawings to provide prompts for kids who aren't reading.

As your kids move through their routine, they punch the card as they complete each step.

If you have access to a laminating machine, these cards work really well when laminated. And, if this works for your family, you could offer some kind of simple reward when the punch card is complete.

Each card is good for eight mornings. When you're done, simply print out some more and start again!

How do you keep your kids on track on school mornings?
