DIY Halloween Mason-Jar Candles

Holidays always provide a fantastic opportunity to make memories with little ones, and crafting together is a great way to spend time together. Halloween crafts are fun, but my boys are easily spooked, so I like to come up with decorations that more cute than scary. This year, we made adorable mason jar candles.

First, gather your supplies.

You’ll need: 

• mason jars
• Mod Podge or watered-down white glue 
• foam brushes
• tissue paper
• scissors
• googly eyes
• a black permanent marker

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Cut tissue paper into one inch squares.

2. Use foam brushes and Mod Podge to cover the jars in tissue paper. Allow to dry overnight.

3. To make the Jack-o-lantern, use orange tissue paper to cover the jar, allow it to dry overnight, and then draw a face with a marker.

4. To make the ghost, use white tissue paper to cover the jar, allow it to dry overnight, add googly eyes, and then draw a nose and mouth with a marker.

5. To make the Frankenstein, use green tissue paper to cover the jar, allow it to dry overnight, add googly eyes, and then draw a face with a marker.

That’s it! I purchased some battery-operated candles to put inside the jars, but with proper supervision you could use regular candles instead.
