The Sharing Economy

From AirBnB and Uber to tool libraries and swapping fairs, we're now selling, bartering, and sharing things with each other on an unprecedented scale, thanks to new technologies. Anne Wright-Howard examines how this new economic model challenges 20th century notions of ownership, commerce, government regulation, wealth and personal identity.

Joeri van den Steenhoven, Director of the MaRS Solutions Lab in Toronto and co-founder of Kennisland, one of the leading change labs in The Netherlands and Europe.

Jeremiah Owyang, founder of Crowd Companies which advises companies on the sharing economy. Former industry analyst and founding partner of the Altimeter Group. He is based in San Francisco.

David Golumbia teaches digital studies at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is author of The Cultural Logic of Computation. He also worked on Wall Street for ten years in the financial information technology industry.

Nathan Blecharczyk, CTO and co-founder, AirBnB.

Lisa Delorme, CEO and co-founder, RentFrock Repeat.

Tonya Surman, CEO and co-founder, Centre for Social Innovation which has offices in Toronto and New York.

Lawrence Alvarez, co-founder, The Tool Library in Toronto and President of the Institute for a Resource-Based Economy.

Violet Shearer is a music teacher at Sorauren Music.

Tony Coleman is a Toronto-based filmmaker.
