John Tavares models Islanders' new alternate jersey

The New York Islanders unveiled a new alternate jersey on Wednesday as the NHL team makes the move from Long Island to Brooklyn for the upcoming season.

The New York Islanders are entering a new era, and on Wednesday they unveiled an alternatejersey to mark the transition from Long Island to their new home at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Star forwardJohn Tavaresmodelled the predominantly black and white uniform to a group of young hockey players.

The logo originally appeared on the 2014 Stadium Series jerseys worn by the Islanders, while the four stripes featured on the sleeves commemorate the franchise'sfour Stanley Cup victories.

The Islanders are planning to wear the alternate jersey for12 home games duringthe 2015-16 season.
