Ben Stiller and art dealer David Zwirner just raised over US$13.6 million in a single evening. All the proceeds from the pair's "Artists for Haiti" event - a charity auction in which artists donated their works and auction house Christie's waived their buyer's premium fee - will fund health and education initiatives in Haiti.

Lots included works by artists Jeff Koons, Jasper Johns, Cindy Sherman and Chuck Close. Many of the pieces were created specifically for the auction, with the top seller being a Marlene Dumas oil titled "My mother before she became my mother" - it sold for $2 million.

26 pieces of art in total sold at the standing room-only, celebrity-filled auction. Jennifer Aniston, the writer/director/actor Justin Theroux, and John McEnroe were among the bidders.

If you're curious to see the pieces themselves, click here to view the auction's catalogue. And if you don't have a spare $2 million lying around for an oil painting, but you'd still like to get involved with Haiti relief efforts, check out the work the World Food Programme and Artists for Peace and Justice are doing in the country.
