I saw the word fake plans.
I moved all my home phone and long distance from Bell last Nov. The plan offered was $5 unlimited in Canada a month. I phoned the sign up department 4 times to inquire and was told that info.
Received by email on sign up that Yak had no hidden contracts or limits .This email ws sent out on day two of my new account.
The first bill arrived with only 500 minutes/month allowed on this unlimited plan. Customer service and Nisha Amin (director of Marketing at Globalive) were not able to state why this false advertising was allowed. AS of April this false info on sign up (at customer service) is still being offered.
My cable or Primus could not transfer my phone number from Yak.I had no choice but to go back to Bell.
Hope this info is given to other consumers re false info given out by Yak.

To Myrna Gordon, Yak.ca clearly states that the unlimited Canadian long distance plan is actually $17.95/month whereas for $5/month (as you stated) you are only given 500 minutes each month (as in the email you received). Instead of just phoning the "sign up" department as you said, you should have checked their website and compared the information and questioned it further when they did not match.

Globalive is certainly downplaying the effects of this leak. I would bet that most of the information on those slides, if not all of it, to be true. Their goal is to shake up the wireless industry in Canada, and the rates and plans from those slides are just what they need. Since this article has been written, Globalive has secured a contract with Nokia-Siemens to build a brand new 3G infrastructure. Finally there will be a choice when it comes to GSM service in Toronto. I will be one of the first to ditch my service with Rogers and head for Globalive.

Even if the leaked plans are totally false and globalive is an awful company, the wireless situation in Canada can't really get much worse.
The fact that Rogers, telus, and bell are questioning the ownership structure of globalive just goes to show the big3 are not keen over any new competition

The bog boys are scared and greedy...they are scared someone will come in and screw up their tricky monopoly becuase if it's the three of them with Ted Rogers around they can screw the consumer all they want...for example they almost seemed human when they thought the competition was coming....but let's see how they react now...kinda like these companies still making millions but instead of $400 million profit in the quarter they only made $300 million..so let cut off all the staff bonuses to ensure the CEO;s still make the bank robbery amounts...pathetic...I'm sure Jesus would love this crap we are living in.

i'm honestly excited to see what this new company has to offer, i heard about it in the papers but didn't take it seriously thought it would be like one of those cell thing offer by sears or rbc and stuff like that, but anyhow, i work for partly with rogers, i get the employee plan and to be honest, im not happy with there plans at all. sometimes i feel sad when i sign people up, but hey what can i do lol. so far the best out there for cheap plans and no good phones would be koodoo. one thing rogers is good about is going over your bills with and explain why they cost you that but fail to realize that there plans are killing people that's why they are getting as much phone calls. i hear in the sates plans are much better for example 10$ unlimited text, anyhow just saw the licked out plans for gobalab and god i hope they stay that way because if they do everyone i know i will encourage to go with that and im looking to ditch rogers was thinking bell cuz they have god phones kinda like rogers but now im just going to wait for the new company and hopeful my discontune service bill will go down too one more thing that bs "we" feed you about you can change your plans when ever thats just bs cuz they still charge you partially on you next bill they call it " pro rating chargers". one thing i dont get though is how you dont get credits back since they say " you pay a month ahead of time" well anyhow looking forward to the new guys they should hurry up. oh and i bet people who went with bell and telus because of the iphone will be sorry lol
